Goar Investigations provides FCRA compliant pre-employment background checks for companies of all sizes. See our Employment Packages. Allow us to provide you with a standard or in-depth profile-report on your candidates. Criminal records can indicate a history of theft or violence, driving records can indicate how employees will drive company vehicles; credit reports can indicate patterns and financial health.

Internal Investigations

Today’s Human Resource departments are trained to understand and act on many acts arising out of employment. Acts, such as sexual harassment, workplace violence and employee theft. Not to mention Workers' Compensation and disability fraud. Human Resource departments are trained to act on complaints of sexual harassment by interviewing all involved parties and make a determination of guilt or innocence. Most often, the situation that arises is a matter of conflicting stories. Who is telling the truth? By hiring a member of the Goar Investigations team, you have essentially allowed us to become your employee, allowing us a glimpse into the working life of your employees.

When most people think of workplace violence, they imagine scenes from the 11 O’clock, or they think of a crazed and sweaty lunatic waving a gun from the roof. But, what about the co-workers that send threatening email messages or key cars in the parking lot? What about the department bully — you know the one that always has something nasty to say? These too, are acts of violence and can cost companies millions of dollars in damages if found responsible for negligent hiring.

Theft of inventory, funds and time are high losses for most companies. Fortunately, they are the easiest to determine and solve. You may not be the type of employer that is going to get upset if a few post-it notes are missing, but when you find out your receiving clerk has used stolen credit cards and is having the goods delivered right to your backdoor, you might be concerned. It might pain you to discover 900 number charges on your phone bills; you would probably want to know if your salesmen are really making all the stops or if the line cook is making off with tenderloin in her purse.

Goar Investigations has conducted internal investigations for some of the largest companies in the United States. For more information or product literature, please contact us.

Business Credit Reports

Business credit reports are valuable for many reasons. First, a business credit report indicated the amount of debt a company has. It will tell you whether a company owns or leases it’s equipment, give you a general idea of the rotating inventory and tell you if a company pay’s it’s bills on time. These three pieces of information are crucial when making decisions to invest into or buy a company. Recently, Goar Investigations was asked to participate in a purchase of an art gallery. The former owner sold all of the merchandise as inventory to the new owners. The problem: the merchandise was on consignment and not his to sell. A quick glance at a credit report would have tipped off the buyers.

Assets & Property

Asset and property records are maintained by a variety of government offices. Each office maintains information that you might not think about. Such as an IRS form 8100. This is the form the government mandates filing of when an individual pays or transfers $10,000 or more. Include this as part of a comprehensive asset search.

Property records are particularly helpful when determining an individual or business’s worth. At least financial worth. Allow us to index property records so we can inform you of ‘little cabin’s on the lake’ or hideaway apartments. Vehicles, boats, RV’s, motorcycles, real property, deeds, mortgages, down payments, lenders and more… Contact us for more information. Please note, asset investigations are lengthy and in-depth. Please allow 1-6 months for an accurate and detailed report.

Due Diligence

This is definitely a term that has been overused in the past few years. When a company or individual indicates they are in need of due diligence, they mean they are going to investigate another company, employee or individual. In most instances, it is because both parties have agreed to enter into a legally binding agreement. For example, if Goar Investigations wanted to expand and had agreed to purchase a smaller firm, we would request several pieces of key information. Based on the information we requested, during the established due diligence period, we would be privy to the financial health, community standing, and employee relations. In other words, we would be taking a critical look at this company and assessing our risk involved. Or, help you make the right decision!

Credential Verification

Most industrial categories of employment require a degree, certification or license in order for an individual to practice their profession. We know doctors and lawyers have to pass bars and boards. Every state in the union requires it. Many states also require licenses for plumbers, barbers, massage therapists, day-care workers, food handlers, landscapers, bartenders etc. Do you want the hassle of checking the license of your barber every time you find a new one? Probably not. Do you want to check out the plumber that comes into your home? Probably. This person can potentially cause thousands and thousands of dollars. You may have recourse if your state requires a level of training for license eligibility.

What about the contractor you hired to build your dream house or remodel your kitchen? Are you sure they are licensed?

Let us even go a step further and obtain references for you.

Education Verification

In 2000, The Society of Human Resource Managers reported an average of 20% of job applicants fibbed on their resumes. The biggest fib, of course, was education. Sometimes people even exaggerated degrees obtained when the position didn’t require one.

Not attaining a degree doesn’t mean the applicant isn’t smart or can’t do the job. Lying about a degree means the applicant might lie to you. Falsifying a degree also creates a false sense of respect and leaves a gray area in the employee-employer relationship. For a minimal cost, allow us to add this feature to your pre-employment package. As with all pre-employment features, this tool is best utilized on a steady basis.

Surveillance

Goar Investigations conducts periods of surveillance to establish insurance fraud, infidelity, and improper behavior. Information can be transferred to you digitally, electronically, VHS, CD or print photo. Please note, for legal purposes, we recommend VHS or print photographs.
