One of the biggest industry shifts in that took place in the 1990’s when a new generation of private investigators came along. Sure we have the Internet, which allows us speedier access to information. What we also have is a solid foundation for business and knack for entrepreneurship. We are also the generation that coined the term “Knowledge is Power” and we mean it! We live in an era when it is almost unheard of not to conduct pre-employment background checks, domestic checks, dating checks, or activity checks. People make more money than ever before, suffer from more stress than ever before and feel more and more pressure to succeed. Pressure to earn or pressure to climb the corporate ladder leads even the most seemingly honest employees to consider violating (what we hope to be) company policy. Granted, less than half do, but do you know what they are costing you? At Goar Investigations, we strive for ways to make your business and employer relations better. We provide you with solid information about your candidates, employees and vendors. Visit our explanation page for more information. Excerpt below: Why Should I Hire a P.I? © By: Kelly Goar Much of the information that is stored by consumer reporting agencies or in public databases is erroneous and at the mercy of the clerk that entered it into the computer. One keystroke error by a clerk at a city, county, state or federal office will poison the information, which is why records from any public source must be verified by several sources before it is released to clients. As for software offered on the web: It is designed to sweep public databases and internally compile information. Again, a situation that is at the mercy of the clerk that entered the information. The problem with the information contained in these programs, is that the information is usually outdated or just simply not published. Also, it is limited only to the information that is contained in web-based databases. Many of these databases are riddled with errors. Goar Investigations does not use services such as those. Instead, we pull a series of records from a series of sources and analyze the information for accuracy, patterns and indications.& A licensed (bonded & insured) investigator knows how to find the information you are looking for. Private Investigators know which court holds which records, what matters are of public record and how to legally propagate information. Another problem with the online/software programs is this: The information contained in those reports is subject to the Fair Credit Reporting Act, which was modified in 1997, with terms relating to the consumers' right to know/correct or expunge their information. This Act is very specific when addressing the rights we, as consumers, have in regard to our personal information. Abusing the information can cost companies hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines. Information, if used incorrectly, also destroys personal relationships, reputations and, in some cases, can lead to arrest. The information contained in public files is open to everyone. In most circumstances, you are welcome to it. Yet, if you take a moment to think about what it will entail for you to track down, interpret and analyze the information -- it just makes sense to hire a licensed investigator. If you choose to hire an investigator, please let us know. Let us help you make decisions!
